Hello all, The latest and greatest is huge! Matt started eating 15 days ago. Just out of the blue Tiffany, one of Matt’s weekly therapists, has been working with Matt’s sensory system in his sessions. She had some chocolate cupcakes two weeks ago and took a spoonful and put it in Matt’s mouth. Matt proceeded to close his mouth, chew it up and swallowed it. No problems, no coughs, nothing. Tiffany went for more and after about three good bites he was starting to look a little worn. Since that day, Lisa has been giving Matt chocolate cupcake everyday, two or three times a day and he does really well with it. We’ve tried a few other things like cornbread, bran muffins, baked potato but he really doesn’t go after it with the same enthusiasm. Right now, chocolates the bomb so we’ve decided to just work on the consistency until we find something else he likes. Everyone, the doctor and all the therapist, say that eating is huge! It involves a huge amount of the sensory part of your brain and if he can do that, it usually opens the door for so much more. With that said, we’re all very excited and keeping the chocolate coming. Matt’s now up to 2 - 3 small cupcakes a day.
Keep up the thoughts and prayers and never give up. It’s working!
God Bless
